Umbria Wine? Sagrantino of Montefalco!

Italian wines: an overview of the most awarded DOCG wine in Umbria, the Sagrantino of Montefalco
The Wine Umbria is a small region that cannot certainly compete on numbers and must therefore invest foremost in quality. It has proven to be worthy of the glorious task: the Umbria, which produces less than one million hectoliters of wine per year, has taken a role and a relevance of course superior in his quantitative parameters. In the current situation a brave handful of manufacturers are trying to revive the image of an area that has not had it easy, after the phenomenon of IGT, now the trend is to exploit the 11 DOC and the 2 DOCG present (Torgiano Rosso Riserva and Sagrantino di Montefalco). The Sagrantino of Montefalco, one of the DOCG of the area, is exclusively produced in Umbria, in the towns of Montefalco, Bevagna, Gualdo Cattaneo, Castel Ritaldi and Giano in Umbria, all in the province of Perugia. As for the vine: leaves, bunches and berries of medium size, very thick waxy skin; the fruit tends towards a medium-late maturing and has good resistance to cold. We report the best companies that produce the Sagrantino di Montefalco and the "three glasses" (Gambero Rosso guide assessment) of each company:
