Tenth edition of the “San Pellegrino Cooking Cup”
Friday, June 25th, 2010 and Saturday the 26th there will be the San Pellegrino Cooking Cup, a regatta with a race between young chefs of different nationalities
The culinary competition San Pellegrino Cooking Cup is based on simple rules: Each boat must have only one chef on board and be named as the restaurant where he works. Each boat must present a choice of first or second course, which will be awarded by a jury really special (Massimo Bottura, Andrea Berton and Elena Arzakto to name a few), a score between 1 and 60 points, divided between: presentation of the dish, difficulty of execution, taste, harmonizing with wine and water.
Friday, June 25th there will be the opening with a welcome dinner at the Molino Stucky Hotel in Venice.
Even here the chefs will have the opportunity to get involved, prepare samples for tasting for about 150 guests, and give them the opportunity to taste the recipe to be cooked in the race the next day. On 26th of June, just days after, will be the competition itself: in the morning the chefs will be involved in the race organized by San Pellegrino. At the sunrise the San Pellegrino Cooking Cup will go to the Rialto Market to shop for the products that they’ll use during the contest (which will last approximately 4 hours). The dish will be prepared only after the start of the race, and will be delivered to the jury on arrival.
Among young chefs who take part in the competition, Italy will be represented by Nicola Fossaceca from the “Al Metrò” restaurant San Salvo Marina (CH).
