Organic food and short chain for the region of Tuscany
Organic food, the short chain and the "km zero" in public canteens of Tuscany. Finally, a food education of the state.
It is going strong the organic food, typical, traditional and the trademark "agri-quality" in public canteens of Tuscany. The notice issued by the Region during the summer to promote these foods and nutrition education and professional updating, which this year had a budget of 700 000 Euros, registered the "sold out".
"This measure - said the commissioner for agriculture in the region, Gianni Salvadori - is twofold. The first is to increase consumption of healthy food, produced on the territory, and to make known and promote the quality and uniqueness, which have high levels of excellence in Tuscany. The second, which is directly connected, is to give support to local producers, the so-called "short" and "km zero", and give a boost to innovation”. Among the 76 projects funded, some were classified as "pilot projects": receiving 90% of the total cost of the project. The remaining projects will receive a grant ranging from 20% to 25% to 60% of the amount depending on the type of the project ("Farm School", "table of Tuscany," "school garden").
The pilot projects are those of the municipalities of Terranova Bracciolini, Scandicci, Bucine, Bagno Ripoli, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Massarosa, Figline Valdarno, Quarrata, Vernio Filattiera, San Giovanni d'Asso and Montemurlo.
More details on funding and the full list of municipalities can be found on the Tuscany Region site (site).
