Food Design at Eataly Turin

Opens on October 18 2010 in Eataly Turin the sixth edition of Food Design®. The exhibition showcases the result of the 2010competition dedicated to develop design projects related to the world of food and sustainability - in terms of environmental impact - for the consumer, packaging and testing of food law. Through the specific request of developing projects dedicated to the wine world, this year the contract has proposed a new project area. In partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Torino was promoted the theme of the tasting as a creative challenge for the design of new concepts of disposable kits. Some 60 projects on display, visible at the first floor of the Eataly Turin, tell the research work of students and professionals who confronted to develop new ideas, consistent with the themes of the call. The 60 projects - selected from hundreds of submissions from 16 different countries including Australia, USA, India, China, Korea, Japan and Europe - will be exposed until October 28th, 2010. At the same time will be presented the section of the projects developed by students of the Polytechnic of Turin during the workshop in collaboration with Piazza dei Mestieri entitled "Let you be tempted, play with food". The workshop, which took place last spring, worked to came with proposals that combine the children food and their playing. The awards event is scheduled for Thursday, October 21 at 18.00 at the headquarters of Eataly Turin. Thanks to the collaboration with the International Food Design Society, the exhibition Food design® 6 will move later to London at the London Metropolitan University, from November 9th to 28th. The event will be preceded by the first International Symposium on "Food Experience Design", a workshop to discuss ideas, knowledge and explore the new frontiers of design as a necessary planning activity, able to respond to emerging needs and effective enhancement lever of the food industry and food design. Info: www.food-design.it
